site.btaTurkiye, Bulgaria Discuss Problems at Common Border
Turkish and Bulgarian officials Saturday met at the Kapikule checkpoint near Edirne to discuss problems encountered at the Bulgarian-Turkish border. Hurdles to trucks, especially refrigerated ones, crossing the border checkpoints and possible solutions, and the fight against the smuggling of goods and drugs were on the agenda, the Edirne Governor's Office said.
Information exchange between the border and customs authorities was also discussed.
Turkiye was represented by Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer, Deputy Trade Minister Sezai Ucarmak, the Foreign Ministry's representative for Edirne, Murat Ahmet Yoruk, Turkiye's Ambassador in Sofia, Aylin Sekizkok, and Turkish Customs Director General Mustafa Gumus.
Bulgaria was represented by Customs Agency Director General Pavel Tonev and the Agency's head of International Affairs, Guinka Konyarska, among others.
