The Border Police reported here that traffic is heavy at border crossings with Serbia, Romania and Greece as of 6:00 am on Wednesday morning.

Serbia

At the border with Serbia, traffic is intense at the Kalotina checkpoint for cars exiting the country. Border checks at the checkpoint are carried out at six checkpoints for incoming cars and at five checkpoints for outgoing cars.

Construction works are being carried out at the checkpoint. This calls for temporary narrowing of the lanes and reorganization of passing vehicles. Travellers are advised to use the other checkpoints on the Bulgarian-Serbian border: the Bregovo checkpoint, the Vrashka Chuka checkpoint, the Strezimirovci checkpoint, the Oltomantsi checkpoint.

Romania

On the border with Romania, traffic is heavy at the "Kardam" checkpoint for trucks exiting the country. Until 18 August, the National Road Infrastructure Company of Romania will carry out maintenance works on the lanes of the Giurgiu checkpoint for trucks entering Romania. The movement of trucks at the Ruse BCP on their way out of Bulgaria will be carried out on the old routes. This temporary arrangement will lead to a certain increase in the waiting time to exit Bulgaria and enter Romania.

Until 31 August, the border crossing point Vama Veche, adjacent to the Bulgarian Durankulak checkpoint, is restricted to trucks weighing more than 7.5 tonnes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on Romania's public holidays from 06:00 to 22:00. On the day preceding the first day of a public holiday, the restriction is from 16:00 to 22:00. Crossing of the joint border crossing points Kainarja/Lipnitsa and Krusari/Dobomir is taking place from 08:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Greece

At the border with Greece, traffic is heavy at the Kulata checkpoin for cars exiting the country. People travelling to and from Greece are advised to use the other crossing points on the Bulgarian-Greek border - Ilinden, Zlatograd, Ivaylovgrad and Kapitan Petko Voyvoda, in addition to the Kulata and Makaza border checkpoints.

Only cars and minibuses may pass through the border crossing points Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad.

North Macedonia and Turkiye

Traffic is normal at all other border checkpoints with North Macedonia and Turkiye.
