BSP Demands Government's Resignation,
Early Parliamentary
Elections

Sofia, November 19 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) demands the government's resignation and early parliamentary elections, leader Kornelia Ninova told reporters on Monday after a meeting of the party's Executive Bureau and the leadership of the parliamentary group.

The Left argued that Boyko Borissov's government is harmful, saying that it destabilizes the country and entire systems: of social policy, education and the economy.

BSP for Bulgaria will keep not registering for plenary sittings, leaving it to the ruling coalition to ensure the quorum - something they had been doing so far in November while Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov's resignation was demanded over disparaging remarks about protesting mothers of disabled children. Simeonov tendered his resignation on November 16.

The Socialist MPs will make an exception and register only for a debate on Ninova's motion to revoke a decision setting higher taxes on older cars in the 2019 budget, for a lower VAT on food and medicines and for an indexation of pensions.

Ninova denied colluding with President Rumen Radev to oust the government of GERB and the United Patriots. She called the head of State "the most disciplined person" she knew, adding that he had not backtracked on his campaign pledges in the two years since he was elected. RY/DD
