Brussels, November 30 (BTA) - Unemployment in Bulgaria slightly increased to 5.4 per cent in October 2018 from 5.3 per cent in September 2018. Year-on-year, the unemployment rate decreased from 5.9 per cent, Eurostat announced on their website on Friday.

Unemployment in the EU remained unchanged in October 2018 at 6.7 per cent month-on-month, down from 7.4 per cent a year earlier, and was the lowest since 2000, when monthly statistics on unemployment in the EU began to be published.

The Euro zone seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate also remained unchanged at 8.1 per cent compared with September, the lowest since November 2008, and dropped from 8.8 per cent in October 2017.

Among the EU Member States, the lowest unemployment rates in October were reported in the Czech Republic (2.2 per cent), followed by Germany (3.3 per cent). The highest jobless rates were recorded in Greece (18.9 per cent in August), followed by Spain (14.8 per cent). LI/TH
