Cabinet Puts Forward
Sofia Police Head Ivanov for Post of
Interior Ministry Chief Secretary

Sofia, December 12 (BTA) - The government puts forward incumbent head of the Sofia Directorate of the Interior, Senior Commissar Ivailo Ivanov, to be appointed at the post of chief secretary of the Interior Ministry, Interior Minister Mladen Marinov told reporters here on Wednesday.

Marinov said that all requirements of the appointing procedure have been met, along with coordination with the President.

Ivanov was appointed head of the Sofia Directorate of the Interior succeeding Marinov, who in turn had been appointed Interior Ministry Chief Secretary. Marinov then replaced Valentin Radev at the post of Interior Minister after the latter's resignation following a deadly road accident that claimed 19 lives in late August.

The functions of the Interior Ministry Chief Secretary are currently performed by Deputy Chief Secretary Georgi Arabadjiev. LI/ZH
