Sofia, December 13 (BTA) - Bulgaria has been invited to join the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO) during a meeting between Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Manolev and Samir Hamrouni, World FZO Chief Executive Officer, the Economy Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

After joining the World FZO, Bulgaria will be able to receive information in real time about investments in free zones in the world and about various investment-promotion measures. At the meeting Hamrouni said he was impressed with Bulgaria's economic performance and invited the Economy Ministry to be a partner and observer in the World FZO.

Manolev said that this country develops eleven industrial zones which attract more and more investments and have gained a reputation as locations of added value for the business. Manolev urged the World FZO to expand its contacts with the state-run company which manages the zones.

World FZO is a global not-for-profit organization representing the interests of free zones around the world. The mission of the organization is to bring together free zones from all over the world and promote their positive impacts by providing guidance, knowledge and services to the members, so as to enhance the free zones' contribution to the economic prosperity and social development of the host country, as well as to have free zones recognized globally as a tool for development, economic prosperity and socio-economic sustainability.

World FZO was launched in Dubai, UAE, in May of 2014 by 14 founding members and under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. The organization is registered in Geneva and headquartered in Dubai. RY/ZH
