Bulgarian Food Safety Agency
Mitigates Restrictions on Movement
of Small Ruminant Production in 3 Regions

Sofia, January 10 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has revised the restrictions for Yambol, Bourgas and Haskovo in relation to the small ruminants plague after the deadline for the extended measures to control the disease expired at the end of December 2018. The measures were imposed on Bulgaria by a decision of the European Committee, BFSA recalled. The mitigation measures were introduced on January 9 by order of the BFSA executive director.

Export of small ruminants from the three regions will require a negative serological test, a physical examination up to three days prior to movement, and a veterinary certificate issued by an official veterinarian. Small ruminant products from Yambol, Bourgas and Haskovo will be distributed throughout Bulgaria and the EU with no restrictions or special labels. LI/TH
