site.btaPavilion Presents Bulgarian Illustrators at Bologna Children's Book Fair


Bulgaria takes part in the 62nd Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy, which began on Monday, said Association for Culture and Literature in a press release. The Bulgarian Books for Kids pavilion is organized by the Association with the financial assistance of the Culture Ministry and Sofia Municipality.
The presentation of Bulgarian authors, illustrators and publishers in the space of the Bulgarian Books for Kids pavilion includes two exhibitions showcasing over 40 Bulgarian illustrators to the world's cultural elite during the prestigious forum.
The project "Chasing Words. 19 Bulgarian Illustrators of Children's Books," curated by Anton Staykov and Svoboda Tzekova, presents 19 contemporary Bulgarian children's book illustrators, and aims to introduce the international audience to the richness and diversity of their artistic styles.
The pavilion also hosts the exhibition "Joy, Sadness and Hope", curated by Anton Staykov and Svoboda Tzekova. In the form of a large book, the exhibition showcases the 25 contemporary Bulgarian illustrators who the Association presented at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in 2024.
For the first time, Bulgaria will take part in the official programme of the Fair with three events: "Translation as an Approach to Bulgarian Literature," "Going Global: Tradition and Undiscovered Voices in Contemporary Bulgarian Literature," and participation in the Portfolio Review programme with mentor Assoc. Prof. Kapka Kuneva.
The pavilion was designed by Svoboda Tzekova and Stefan Gadzhovski.
