May 2 (BTA) - The prosecution service, the Interior Ministry and the State Agency for National Security have
launched probes into possible fraud affecting EU funding in Bulgaria, the prosecution magistracy reported on Thursday.

Investigators are working in Sofia, Plovdiv, Sliven, Karnobat and Bourgas.

The press release did not specify whether the probes were prompted by evidence of apparent misuse of EU aid for the construction of guesthouses, which began to be investigated just recently.

A week ago, Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov ordered an investigation of all projects for the construction of
guesthouses nationwide. This followed checks on former deputy economy minister Alexander Manolev and Socialist MP Elena Yoncheva. IG/VE
