June 11 (BTA) - Bulgaria will insist on a review of Mobility Package 1 in the European Parliament, Transport Minister Rossen Zhelyazkov told a news briefing on June 10, emerging from a coordination meeting with some of the newly elected Bulgarian MEPs and road hauliers.
Zhelyazkov said: "We have full consensus about our national position regarding the approach of the government, the MEPs and the industry towards streamlining the dossiers relevant to Mobility Package 1."
"We insist on a first-reading review of the legislative proposal for the individual dossiers and we will do everything to make that happen," the Transport Minister went on to say. "We will seek support from other EU member states in the framework of the Council to enlarge our group of the like-minded."
Bulgaria has asked for a meeting with the new leadership of the European Parliament and its Transport Committee at the end of July, provided that the leadership bodies are elected by that time.
All Bulgarian MEPs who attended Monday's meeting expressed their support for the Minister's plans. RY/VE
