Bulgarian citizens in Syria should avoid public places and not leave their homes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) recommended Thursday, adding that these measures are necessary in view of the ongoing complicated security situation in Syria and the occurrence of mass disturbances.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation in Syria and is looking for opportunities for the safe departure of Bulgarian citizens who have expressed their wish to leave the country.

In case of need, Bulgarian citizens can contact the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Damascus by phone: +963 944 39 02 03, +963 11 44 54 039 or by e-mail: Embassy.Damascus@mfa.bg, as well as in case of an emergency and after working hours by mobile phone: +963 944 39 02 03.

Alerts and requests for assistance in disaster situations of Bulgarian citizens are also accepted around the clock on the telephone lines of the Situation Centre Directorate: +359 2 948 24 04; +359 2 971 38 56 or email: crisis@mfa.bg.
