Bulgaria's Stanimir Belomazhev fell just short of another ranking among the top 10 during Kainuu Ski O Week, a ski orienteering competition in Puolanka Paljakka, Finland. The two-time world champion finished 12th in the middle-distance race on Sunday.

Belomazhev was in fourth position until the middle of the race but ended up behind the first 10. He finished 2:30 min behind the winner, Niklas  Ekstrom of Finland, who clocked 36:07 min.

In the first round of the competition, the Bulgarian placed fifth.

In the women's division, Bulgarians Antonia Grigorova and Andreya Dyaksova placed 28th and 37th, respectively. Dyaksova was running steadily among the first 20, but a technical glitch pushed her down in the ranking.

There are two races to go in Kainuu Ski O Week, a sprint on Tuesday and a pursuit on Wednesday.
