Before a meeting of the Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria coalition (CC-DB), CC-DB  Co-chair Assen Vassilev called on the government to submit a budget as soon as possible, so that on the day a National Assembly Chair is elected, the budget can be distributed for consideration by committees.

Vassilev commented that the position of Delyan Peevski and the MRF-New Beginning from this morning does not change anything. "We will not appoint a Chair and Deputy Chair of the National Assembly, nor do we want to have parliamentary commitee chairs," Peevski said this morning.

"What we have clearly stated is that we will support a National Assembly Chair from parties that have signed the declaration for a  cordon sanitaire [sanitary cordon around MRF-New Beginning]," said Vassilev, adding taht if the parties have not signed this declaration, there is no way CC-DB can support their chair nominee.

CC support Democrats for Strong Bulgaria's (DSB) leader Atanas Atanasov's nomination since he is a coalition partner and would certainly bring the laws set in the declaration into effect as quickly as possible, so that they be voted on and thus Borislav Sarafov [sole nominee for prosecutor general] can be stopped, Vassilev added. "We are already in December, the adoption of a budget under the best conditions is at least four weeks away," he added.

"We have not negotiated with anyone. It is absurd to negotiate with GERB before they have signed the declaration to limit Peevski from power," Vassilev said. "We told our Bulgarian Socialist Party colleagues clearly, as we stated at the public meeting with them, that the next step is for them to sign the declaration to remove Peevski from power, and when that happens, we can  hold talks about supporting their candidate," he added.
