Mariya Gabriel has been elected President of the Robert Schuman Institute, the European People's Party (EPP) said at x.com on Tuesday. The institute offers training to EPP politicians through seminars and conferences.

The Institute's website reads: "It [training] is responsibility for the formation of politicians, investment in the next generation political party, but also a must for winning the upcoming election. In the EU’s neighbourhood it is about raising the new pro-European elite with center-right convictions and ensuring their countries keep on track even when the first euphoric moments of transition have passed."

The RSI has been promoting the idea of a united Europe and the basic values of the EPP / Christian Democracy, supporting the process of democratic transformation, the development of civil societies since 1991.

Gabriel was MEP for GERB/EPP between 2009 and 2017. EPP Vice-President since 2019. EU Commissioner from 2019 to 2023. Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs between June 2023 and April 2024.
