President Radev to Lead Bulgarian Delegation to COP29 Summit

President Rumen Radev will pay a working visit to Baku (Azerbaijan) on November 12-13 where he will participate in the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), the President's press secretariat said on Monday. He will lead the Bulgarian delegation which includes Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov, Innovation and Growth Minister Rosen Karadimov, representatives of state institutions and agencies, of innovative companies and industrial enterprises. The President will be accompanied by his wife Desislava Radeva.

On November 12, Radev will make a national statement at the COP29 Summit. Earlier in the day, the President will host a high-level forum at the Bulgarian Pavilion, with a focus on the preservation and development of the competitiveness of the economies in view of the EU's ambitions for a net-zero future. Participating in the event will be Iliana Ivanova, the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and representatives of the leaderships of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

On November 13, as part of COP29, President Radev will open a forum at the Bulgarian Pavilion together with Greece's Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The forum will discuss energy connectivity among the European countries and the promotion of renewable energy production and storage. On the Bulgarian initiative, an intention to accelerate cooperation in this field will be declared jointly with other countries.

At the invitation of Mitsotakis, Radev will participate in an event of the Greek Pavilion devoted to the development of the Vertical Gas Corridor. Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Slovakia participate in the initiative to diversify sources and routes for transporting additional volumes of gas from South to North.

President Radev's programme also includes bilateral meetings with state and government leaders and with representatives of international organizations.
