The Embassy of Bulgaria in London and the Ivan Stanchov Bulgarian School are organizing an evening dedicated to ambassador Ivan Stanchov - diplomat, visionary, philanthropist, the Embassy said on Facebook. The event will take place at the Embassy, located at 186-188 Queen’s Gate, London SW7 5HL, between 6 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. local time on November 7.

The programme includes a screening of the documentary Ivan Stanchov - The knight with a backpack, a short video titled "The Testaments of Ivan Stanchov", the premiere of the book "I am Bulgarian, and I follow my people - Ivan I. Stanchov". At the end, a conversation about Ivan Stanchov will be held.

Diplomat and philanthropist Ivan Stanchov was born on April 1, 1929. He emigrated from Bulgaria in 1943. Ambassador of Bulgaria to Great Britain and Northern Ireland (January 25, 1991 – July 1, 1994). Minister for Foreign Affairs (October 17, 1994 - January 26, 1995). Founder (1994) and Chairperson of the Karin Dom Foundation (1994-2016). Recipient of the United States Army Commendation Medal (1995). Recipient of the Order of the Grand Cross of Rio Branco, Brazil, (2002). Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of France (1995) and Chevalier of the Italian Order of Solidarity (2006). Recipient of the Order of Stara Planina, first degree (1 April 2009), among others.
