The number of pensioners in September 2024 was 2,047,486, or 15,127 (0.7%) more compared to the same month of the previous year, said the press centre of the  National Social Security Institute (NSSI). The average monthly pension of one pensioner for the month was BGN 928.88.

Compared to a year earlier, the average amount was higher by BGN 101.74 (12.3%). The average monthly amount of the pension for length of service and age of one pensioner for September 2024 was BGN 1,025.49, and compared to the average amount for the same month last year, it increased by BGN 116.17 (12.8%).

As of September 30, 2024, the total amount of reported revenues was BGN 9,604.4 million, which represents 74.6% of the plan for the year. The received revenues were BGN 1,316.0 million more than in the same period of 2023. The total reported expenses amounted to BGN 18,044.2 million, or 74.2% of the plan for the year.

Expenses were BGN 2,191.8 million more than in the first nine months of last year. In the structure of the total expenses, the largest share were expenses for pensions, which amounted to BGN 15,913.4 million, which is 73.6% of the implementation of the plan for the year. Pension expenses were BGN 1,841.8 million or 13.1% more compared to the same period last year.

The next most significant and large group of expenses in the consolidated budget of the State Social Insurance (SSI) were the expenses for the payment of cash benefits and benefits under the Social Security Code. As of September 30, they amounted to BGN 1,995.8 million, or 78.4% of the plan for the year. Reported expenses were BGN 331.8 million more than in the same period of 2023.

The total amount of reported transfers (net) according to the consolidated SSI budget as of September was BGN 8,525.5 million.

The reported income in the Teachers' Pension Fund as of September 30 was in the amount of BGN 90.9 million, which represents 76.5% implementation of the plan for the year. The total reported expenses of the Teachers' Pension Fund at the end of September amounted to BGN 75.1 million, which represents 71.4% implementation of the plan for the year. The incurred expenses were BGN 11.3 million more than in the same period of 2023.

Reported revenues as of September 30 amounted to BGN 1,809.0 thousand, which represents 72.4% implementation of the plan for the year. The received revenues were BGN 462.7 thousand less compared to the same period of 2023. The total reported expenses as of September 30 were BGN 751.3 thousand, which represents 15.6% of the implementation of the plan for the year. The incurred expenses were BGN 1,067.8 thousand less compared to the same period last year.

The National Insurance Institute said that the amount of the average insurance income for the country for August of this year was BGN 1,642.10.
