site.btaSofia University to Host Conference Dedicated to Argentine-Bulgarian Cooperation in Antarctica
Argentina’s Embassy in Bulgaria will hold a conference on "Argentina and Bulgaria in Antarctica. Friendship and Synergy, a Step Beyond Cooperation'' at Sofia University on Wednesday. The event will be moderated by Rear Admiral Marcello Tarapov, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI) said.
BAI and the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy will contribute reports presented by Prof. Dr. Nesho Chipev and Captain Nikolay Danailov.
The event will conclude with the opening of a photographic exhibition titled "Argentina and Bulgaria in Antarctica: Two Stories and a Friendship."
Both Argentina and Bulgaria, as consultative parties to the Antarctic Treaty, are distinguished by their significant presence and activities in Antarctica, consistently striving for scientific advancement, cooperation, and the use of the continent for peaceful purposes. Argentina has maintained a continuous presence in Antarctica for over 120 years, while Bulgaria has been active for nearly 60 years. The shared commitment to Antarctica has strengthened their nearly century-long bilateral relations, fostering a close friendship, BAI said.
The conference will be held in English with translation into Bulgarian.
