The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) set the price of natural gas for October at BGN 63.72/MWh, excluding access, transmission, excise, and VAT costs, EWRC said here on Tuesday. This is an increase by nearly 3% from September.

EWRC determined the price at which Bulgargaz EAD will supply natural gas to end suppliers, licensed producers, and thermal energy transmitters for October, based on the latest data provided by Bulgargaz.

The pricing structure includes the entire contracted quantity of Azeri natural gas, delivered through the Bulgaria-Greece Interconnector under a long-term contract with Azerbaijan. These quantities account for 70.82% of October’s consumption and play a key role in securing a favourable gas price.

Additionally, Bulgargaz has secured two contracts for liquefied natural gas from traders, following tenders with specific criteria for minimum delivery price and payment methods. The price mix also includes gas extracted from the Chiren underground storage facility.

Although the approved price of BGN 63.72/MWh represents a 2.9% increase compared to September, it remains competitive and ensures favourable pricing for Bulgarian consumers.

The secured quantities will fulfil the public supplier’s commitments for October to end suppliers and district heating companies, as well as quantities allocated under bilateral contracts with industrial clients, the statement said.
