site.btaTrade Unions Demand Maximum Pension of 1,350 Lv as of July 1, 2020
November 6 (BTA) - The Confederation of Independent Trade
Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) insists that the maximum pension be
raised next year, despite the fact that the level of the maximum
insurance contribution will not be increased, the CITUB's press
centre reported Wednesday.
To achieve an increase of the maximum pension in 2020, the CITUB
proposes that its amount be determined based on 45 per cent,
instead of the current 40 per cent, of the maximum insurance
contribution of 3,000 leva, thus bringing the maximum pension in
Bulgaria to 1,350 leva as of July 1.
The proposal will benefit 40,500 persons, including some 28,000
pensioners who get smaller pensions because of the pension
ceiling. A raise of the maximum pension would lead to nearly
half of these 28,000 persons getting their full pensions, the
CITUB argues.
The raise of the maximum pension requires an additional
financial resource of less than 28 million leva, which the CITUB
experts believe can be covered by the sufficient reserves in
the planned revenues.
