PM Borissov: Due to Gap after Communism,
ex-Eastern Bloc Countries Still
Lag Behind the West


Sofia, November 9m (BTA) - In a Facebook post on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote that because of communism, the former Eastern Bloc countries still lag behind and yet they have chosen the right direction. "Communism left behind such a gap that 30 years after the historic fall of the Berlin Wall the Eastern countries find it hard to catch up with the West," said Borissov.

"We still carry the scars [of communism], we still have much work to do but this is the right direction," he says.

In his words, Bulgaria have made its civilizational choice.

He further says that "we have to stand up for democracy and the right to free choice" and not allow "totalitarian regimes to divide us". LN/
