November 11 (BTA) - The revenues from nights spent in
September 2019 totalled 166.7 million leva, 1.5 per cent more
than in September 2018, the National Statistical Institute said.
The revenues from Bulgarians increased by 13.8 per cent, while
those from foreigners dropped by 1.8 per cent.
In September 2019, the total occupancy of bed-places in
accommodation establishments was 36.4 per cent, down by 1.0
percentage point from a year earlier. The highest occupancy
rate, 48.3 per cent, was reported for bed-places in four- and
five-star hotels, followed by three-star ones (32.1 per cent),
and one- and two-star accommodation establishments (20.1 per
cent).
In September 2019, 2,924 accommodation establishments with more
than 10 bed-places - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain
chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation -
were functioning in this country. They had 131,600 rooms and
294,700 beds. Compared to September 2018, the accommodation
establishments and the bed-places in them increased by 2.9 per
cent and 0.8 per cent respectively.
The total number of nights spent in all accommodation
establishments registered in September 2019 was 3,097,100, 2.3
per cent fewer than a year earlier. The largest decrease (by 4.6
per cent) was observed in three-star accommodation
establishments.
In September 2019, 74.3 per cent of all nights spent by foreign
citizens and 32.3 per cent of all nights spent by Bulgarians
took place in four- and five-star hotels. Three-star
accommodation establishments accounted for 19.9 per cent of all
nights spent by foreigners and 31.0 per cent of all nights spent
by Bulgarian residents. The rest of the accommodation
establishments (with one and two stars) accounted for 5.8 per
cent of nights spent by foreigners and 36.7 per cent of nights
spent by Bulgarians.
In September 2019, the number of arrivals in all accommodation
establishments increased by 1.4 per cent from a year earlier to
847,300. An increase by 3.3 per cent was registered for
Bulgarians and a decrease by 0.1 per cent was registered for
foreigners. A total of 377,800 Bulgarians spent nights in
accommodation establishments in September 2019, spending 2.5
nights on average. The foreigners' arrivals were 469,500, with
an average of 4.6 nights spent and 72.9 per cent of them staying
