Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Finland in Sofia, Kirsti Pohjankukka, said the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

During the meeting, the sides noted the excellent relations between Bulgaria and Finland and reaffirmed their desire to expand cooperation in key areas of mutual interest, including within the EU, NATO and multilateral formats.

The importance of security cooperation, the fight against disinformation and scientific, educational and technological exchanges were on the agenda. Deputy Minister Shekerletova expressed her gratitude to the Finnish side for the sustained support for Bulgaria's current foreign policy priorities, such as the country's accession to the OECD, the eurozone, as well as the Schengen area along land borders.

The sides also discussed issues related to the organization of the upcoming early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, the statement said.
