site.btaPatriarch Daniil Attends Launch Event for Book on Civil Law Status of Bulgarian Orthodox Church
The launch event for the Civil Law Status of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church book by author Assoc. Prof. Mariya Kyoseva was held in the Grand Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) on Tuesday. The event was attended by Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil, who bestowed his blessings.
Kyoseva serves as a legal advisor to the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Bulgarian Patriarchate (BOC-BP) and is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv. Her book is the first in Bulgarian legal studies to explore the position of the BOC within the legal system, its statutes, structure, and church-state relations.
Patriarch Daniil commented on Kyoseva's role for the BOC, saying: "For 24 years, I have witnessed the selfless, dedicated, and sacrificial efforts of Mariya Kyoseva in defending the interests of the church, clarifying its legal status, and building a comprehensive legal strategy for its place and role in the Bulgarian legal world."
A congratulatory address from President Rumen Radev was read at the event to acknowledge Kyoseva for her research.
Deputy National Assembly Chair Tsoncho Ganev, constitutional judges, representatives of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, President of BAS Julian Revalski, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, scholars, and lecturers also attended the event.
