Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev met with Japan’s visiting House of Representatives Speaker Fukushiro Nukaga. The focus of the talks was the stated readiness to continue the political dialogue and raise the level of relations to a strategic partnership, especially in the context of the three anniversaries in 2024: 115 years since the first official contacts, 85 years since the establishment and 65 years since the restoration of diplomatic relations. Prime Minister Glavchev was adamant that Japan remains a priority partner and traditional friend of this country.
Japan is one of Bulgaria's key trading partners in the East Asian region. During the meeting, the sides discussed the opportunities to attract more Japanese investments, increase the export of Bulgarian goods and promote tourism.
The two officials concurred that other areas such as information technology, automotive start-ups, artificial intelligence, energy and innovation provide opportunities for expanding the bilateral partnership. The future presence of Japanese companies in Bulgarian industrial parks was also discussed.
The Japanese guest said that Bulgaria will remain a valuable partner not only in bilateral cooperation, but in the partnership between Europe and Asia.
