Two-hundred participants in 35 teams from 15 countries competed in the two compulsory categories: individual and team in levels B1, B2 and C1. The individual competition included a written test, integrated skills (understanding audio-video material and essay writing) and speaking. The team project consists of creating a digital/multimedia/dramatized representation of a scene that the team considers particularly important to the action of a novel, as listed in the bibliography for the appropriate level - B1, B2 and C1.
This is the second edition of the International English Olympiad. In 2023, Bulgaria won one gold medal for a team project at level B2, two honourable mentions at the same level in the individual competition, and a bronze medal in the individual competition at level B1, the release said.
