President Radev Promotes Servicemen to Senior Officer Ranks

President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Rumen Radev promoted several members of the Armed Forces to senior officer rank at a ceremony which was held in the Coat of Arms Hall of the Presidency on Monday.

The Deputy Chief of Educational and Scientific Activities of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Captain 1st Rank, Kalin Kalinov, was promoted to the rank to Flotilla Admiral and appointed head of the Naval Academy.

The Deputy Commander of the 24th Air Base, Colonel Dimitar Pavlov, was prompted to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed Commander of the Base.

The Commander of the Mobile Communication and Information System, Colonel Teodor Todorov, was promoted to the rank to Brigadier General and to the position of Commander of the Communication-Information Support and Cyber Defense Command.

The Chief of the National Service for Protection, Brigadier General Emil Tonev, was prompted to the rank of Major General. He has been the Chief of the National Service for Protection since 2020.

During the ceremony, Radev commended the recipients for their dedication and professional contribution to the development of the Armed Forces.

"The unprecedented deterioration of the global security environment and the broad spectrum of emerging risks and threats place new and ever higher demands on the country's defence capabilities, for even greater coordination and interaction between the various elements of the national security protection system, on accelerating the modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and enhancing interoperability with our allies," the President said.
