site.btaJapanese Delegation Visits Sofia University
A delegation of the Group for Friendship with Bulgaria in the House of Councillors of the National Diet of Japan, consisting of Chairman Junichi Ishii, Secretary General Kazuhiko Aoki, and Masahito Fujikawa, visited Sofia University on Monday. The delegation was accompanied by Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria Hisashi Michigami. They were hosted by the Department of Japanese Studies of Sofia University, the university said on Wednesday.
Chief assistant professors Stella Zhivkova and Martin Dimitrov, together with the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology and Executive Director of the Museum of Sofia University, Simeon Hinkovski, gave the guests a tour of the university. They briefly presented its history as well as the traditions of teaching Japanese language and culture at the university.
As part of their visit, the guests met with three graduates of the Japanese Studies programme who spoke about their careers in different fields, as well as about their experiences during their stay and studies in Japan.
At the meeting ideas were exchanged regarding the state and prospects of the Bulgarian-Japanese relations, and the guests expressed their readiness to work for their further development in the future. The leading role of the Japanese studies programme in the development of cultural ties and human exchanges between the two countries was emphasized.
