The unemployment rate in Bulgaria in June 2024, expressed as a ratio of the number of unemployed to the labour force, stood at 4.5%, which was also the figure for May, according to Eurostat's latest seasonally adjusted data published on Thursday.
The number of the unemployed in Bulgaria rose to 141,000 people in June, compared to 139,000 in May. Unemployment for both women and men in the country was 4.5%. This rate corresponded to 66,000 unemployed women and 75,000 unemployed men in June. Bulgaria's youth unemployment rate has also maintained the 14% level recorded in May and in June.
Unemployment in the European Union remained at 6% in June 2024, following identical levels in March, April and May. In the euro area, unemployment rose slightly from 6.4% in May to 6.5% in June. In June 2023, the unemployment rate in the EU was again 6% and in the euro area - 6.5%.
