The air quality measurements made by Sofia Municipality's mobile air pollution measurement station positioned at the village of Gara Elin Pelin show that the air quality values there are within normal limits, Sofia Municipality reported on Friday morning. The report comes after a fireworks depot, located in close proximity to the road connecting the town of Elin Pelin and the village of Gara Elin Pelin near Sofia, caught fire on Thursday, resulting in a series of explosions.

The data on measured concentrations for fine particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5) show a slight increase in the early hours of the night. With a daytime norm of 50 micrograms/m3, the measured concentration was 51.17 at 1.00 a.m., 29.19 at 2.00 a.m. and 18.93 at 5.00 a.m.

The data for nitrogen dioxide at hourly rate up to 200 micrograms/m3 measured concentrations were 34.63 at 1.00 a.m. and 40,1 at 2.00 a.m.

For sulphur dioxide at hourly norm up to 350 micrograms/m3, the measured concentrations were 16.94 at 1.00 a.m. and 10.1 at 2.00 a.m.

The data of the measuring station can be monitored in real time on a website run by the Sofia Municipality.
