January 16 (BTA) - In 2019, there were 35,371 passenger car registrations in Bulgaria, an increase of 3 per cent from 2018, according to figures by the European Automobile Manufacturers's Association released on Thursday.

In December, there were 2,860 car registrations, or a 11.8 per cent growth year-on-wear.

In the EU, passenger car registrations grew by 1.2 per cent in 2019, maintaining an upward trend for sixth consecutive year. Between January and December over 15.3 million vehicles were registered in the EU.

In December 2019, passenger car registrations grew for the fourth month in a row by 21.7 per cent to nearly 999,000, marking the highest December total on record to date.

This was partially the result of a low base of comparison, as registrations fell by 8.4 per cent in December 2018. However, specific market changes also contributed to this exceptional growth. RI/PP
