Minister of Health Galya Kondeva issued a new order banning the export of insulins and analogues and other blood sugar-lowering drugs. Antibiotics intended for systemic use in childhood will also not be exported for another month, the Ministry of Health announced on its website.

The data of the Bulgarian Drug Agency and regional health inspectorates shows a continuing trend of irregular deliveries, delays or refusal from the warehouses of wholesalers, which leads to difficulties in the supply of both pharmacies and patients with said medicines.

The Ministry of Health added that the purpose of extending the export ban, effective since June 17, is to ensure a sufficient supply of these medicinal products needed for the treatment of Bulgarian patients, to protect their health and ensure continuity of their drug therapy.

The new order is effective as of July 18 until August 18, 2024.
