On Wednesday, Parliament first accepted, and then, after a re-vote, rejected the resignation of the Financial Supervision Commission Deputy Chairperson Vladimir Savov. In the first vote, Savov’s resignation was accepted with 116 votes in favour, 40 against and 70 abstentions. Then, following a request for a re-vote by Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov, the resignation was rejected with 108 votes in favour, 40 against and 72 abstentions.
Before the re-vote, addressing the six Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) MPs, two Velichie MPs, and one Continue the Change-Democratic (CC-DB) Bulgaria MP who initially voted in favour to accept Savov’s resignation, as proposed by Movement for Rights and Freedoms Chair Delyan Peevski, Kostadinov said that if they vote against it the second time, Peevski’s proposal will not be accepted. If they repeat their vote - Peevski's proposal will pass and it will become clear that Peevski has six people in BSP, two in Velichie and at least one in CC-DB, Kostadinov argued.
Before debating the resignation, Parliament postponed for Thursday the item on its Wednesday's agenda to hear caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, caretaker Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov and caretaker Deputy Foreign Minister Nevyana Miteva on the NATO Washington Summit.
