More than 170 inspections have been carried out since the beginning of the summer season on the Black Sea coast, six violations have been detected and four of them have resulted in administrative acts, said in Burgas Ivan Videlov, head of the Control and Inspection Directorate at the Ministry of Tourism.
In his words, since the beginning of the joint inspections of the department together with inspectors of the Commission for Consumer Protection, the National Revenue Agency and Economic Police, seventeen sites on the Black Sea coast have been inspected, and over forty alerts have been received.
"We have reacted to all the alerts and carried out checks. I assure you that the beaches are in perfect condition. This shows the relatively small number of irregularities we have found. During the joint inspections, the Ministry of Tourism has issued three violation reports and colleagues from other institutions have issued eight. The joint checks will continue throughout the summer season," Videlov said. He specified that unfair practices have been detected where umbrellas and sunbeds are rented out on beaches for which no concession contract has been signed.
During the joint inspections, which started on Friday along the entire Black Sea coast, beach establishments whose owners have not provided documents for categorization have also been identified, said Branislava Nedyalkova, chief expert at the Commission for Consumer Protection. "We had two such cases where the necessary documentation for categorization or for an open procedure for categorisation was not provided," Nedyalkova said.
