Following a public consultation, a draft decision of the Council of Ministers on amending and supplementing the Regulation on the structure and activities of the Ministry of Interior has been submitted on June 25 by the Ministry of Interior, proposing a change to increase the Ministry's staff by a total of 1,732 persons, caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said during Question Time in Parliament on Friday.

Out of these 1,732 posts, 1,264 are to secure the regional directorates of the Border Police, 266 - to secure the activities of the refugee accommodation centres, and 202 - to secure the activities of the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection, Stoyanov explained.

With the entry into force of the amendments, a phased recruitment of employees will begin in accordance with the possibilities of holding competitions and training, he added.
