A march in support of the so-called ‘traditional family’ was held in downtown Sofia on Saturday. The event was organized by the March for Family National Association. Processions were also held in Plovdiv and Varna.
The procession in Sofia started in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, passed near the Palace of Justice and ended in front of the National Palace of Culture congress centre.
Speaking to BTA, Ivaylo Tinchev, chairperson of the March for Family National Association, said: "We are organizing the march because there is still a strong threat to families – we have many divorces, many broken families, single parents, bad morals in society, bad education and we want to protect the rights of children and parents, to strengthen marriage between a man and a woman".
In Tinchev's words, the participants have joined the march to demand healthy families, good relationships between children and parents, and to build moral values in society. They have expressed their opinion against propaganda for same-sex marriages.
