Bulgarian Swimmers to Compete in European Championships in Belgrade

Nine Bulgarian swimmers departed for Belgrade to participate in the European Aquatics Championships for men and women. The competitions will take place from June 17 to 23 at the Milan Gale Muskatirovic Sports Center in the Serbian capital.

The Bulgarian representatives in the women's category are Gabriela Georgieva, Diana Petkova and Teya Nikolova. The swimmers in the men’s competition are Yordan Yanchev, Tonislav Sabev, Kaloyan Levterov, Kaloyan Bratanov, Lyubomir Epitropov and Daniel Nankov. The championship in Belgrade is the last opportunity for Bulgarian swimmers to meet the standards for participation in the Summer Olympics in Paris.

Gabriela Georgieva will take part in three distances, 50, 100, and 200 m backstroke. Diana Petkova will compete in 50 and 100 m freestyle, 50 and 100 m breaststroke and 200 m medley swimming. Teya Nikolova is entered for the 50 and 100 m breaststroke.

Kaloyan Levterov will compete in the men's 50, 100 and 200 m backstroke and Kaloyan Bratanov in the 50, 100 and 200 m freestyle. Tonislav Sabev is among the participants in the 50 and 100 m breaststroke. Lyubomir Epitropov will swim the 200m breaststroke. Yordan Yanchev is entered for the 200, 400 and 800 m freestyle. Daniel Nankov will swim 50, 100 and 200 m freestyle.

Bulgaria will have 4x100m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relays for men.
