site.btaCroatia's Ruling Party to Win Most Seats in European Parliament - Polls
Friday was the last day of campaigning for the European Parliament elections in Croatia, with a ban on campaigning coming into force at midnight that will last until the polling stations close on Sunday evening.
According to the last two opinion polls from STARTmetar and RTL TV, as much as six parties and coalitions could have representatives in the European Parliament, with the ruling Croatian Democratic Union expected to win the most seats (5). The Social Democratic Party could win 4 mandates, the environmental left-wing formation We Can! can hope for two seats, while the right-wing nationalist Fatherland Movement, Law and Justice and the coalition list of the Istrian Democratic Assembly can win one mandate each.
Since the beginning of the election campaign, a number of political analysts predicted a low voter turnout due to the active tourist season starting in June and the parliamentary elections held in April.
Euroscepticism, which has been increasing in recent years, could also affect voter turnout.
