Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) firmly supports minimum wage being 50% of the average wage for the country, said Assen Vassilev, one of the leaders of the formation, during a meeting with trade unionists from the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB). Nikolay Denkov and top-of-the-list MEP candidate Nikola Minchev also participated in the meeting.
Vassilev explained that the increase of minimum wage does not allow ghettos to form in the country. He stated that he is firmly "against" such a thing happening in Bulgaria as a politician and financier.
CITUB raised the issue of the non-taxable minimum and the living wage. Vassilev replied that he would open the door to a tax system with different rates and pointed out that what CC-DB did for families in the form of a child tax credit does the same job. "By expanding the child tax credit, we will help working families," he said.
In recent years, the Bulgarian industry has been doing well, Vassilev noted.
