Bulgarian Solidarity Coalition leader Vanya Grigorova was in Sliven to meet "face to face with the people to match the priorities of the coalition against the public agenda", the Bulgarian Solidarity press office said on Friday.

Grigorova said the fast-credit business is a symptom of disturbing developments in Bulgaria, which her coalition can deal with. The sector has grown in avalanche-like fashion, she noted. "In a town like Nova Zagora, this kind of companies lurk at every corner. They cause people to sink drastically deeper into debt. They are one of the reasons for locals to migrate abroad. If you can't repay your debt, you move abroad. Even employers have confirmed that," Grigorova said.

Discussing the phasing out of coal-fired power plants, which affects Sliven Region as well as other parts of the country, she said the people in Nova Zagora and across the region are very worried about what is going on in the Maritsa East energy complex. "One of the three power plants has already laid off 160 employees. Maritsa East 2 is operating at reduced capacity. The coal mines are all but non-operational," Grigorova said.
