On May 29, Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov received representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). They discussed the forthcoming elections to the European Parliament in Bulgaria on June 9, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release Friday.

Kondov briefed the OSCE officials about the efforts of his ministry to ensure that Bulgarian citizens abroad can exercise their right to vote. He informed them about the requirements for opening polling stations for the European Parliament elections abroad and the preparation of the electoral process.

The discussion took place in the framework of a special mission of a team of OSCE-ODIHR experts who are visiting the country in the period May 27  - June 2 to assess the preparations for the European Parliament elections.

The OSCE-ODIHR experts also held meetings with members of the Central Election Commission, representatives of other institutions related to the preparation of the European Parliament elections, as well as with representatives of civil society, the media, and political parties that have nominated candidates for the European Parliament.
