A positive school environment, education based on a positive psychology require well-being and positive teachers who share this mental state with the students, caretaker Education and Science Minister Galin Tsokov said here on Wednesday. He was speaking at a national conference on well-being and positive school environment for teachers and non-teaching educational staff as factors for improving the quality of education.

The forum was organized by the Bulgarian Union of Teachers within the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB).

Tsokov also said that the big part of teachers’ and students’ stress level and anxiety is the result of the recent years’ crisis linked to the COVID pandemic - something that not every generation has experienced. The development of a positive educational environment also increases the motivation of teachers and students, the caretaker Education Minister noted.

Bulgarian Union of Teachers Chair Yanka Takeva said that in terms of the welfare of staff working in the secondary education system, Bulgaria has the best collective labour agreement. This document is given as an example in the European Trade Union Committee for Education, and it is implemented, she added.
