Russian attack on the energy infrastructure in the Odesa Province in Ukraine took place on Saturday night, Odesa Province Governor Oleh Kiper wrote on Telegram.

According to him, the Ukrainian Air Defence Forces have managed to destroy 8 Russian drones but fallen debris sparked a fire in one of the province's power facilities, leading to blackouts in several settlements and half of the city of Odesa. Later, the fire has been extinguished.

Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov reported that the attack has caused a temporary shutdown of Odesa’s electric transport. Bus operators have launched more transport on the line.

Odesa Province is home to the third largest community of expatriate Bulgarians, numbering more than 150,000 people, according to an official population census in Ukraine in 2001. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the provincial capital Odesa. Bulgarians in the province are concentrated in the districts of Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
