Sofia, April 28 (BTA) -
There are atotal of 1,399 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, according to data from the National Coronavirus Taskforce, the Health Ministry said Tuesday afternoon.
A total of 287 patients with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis are
under medical observation in hospitals. Thirty-nine patients are
in intensive care wards or clinics.
Sixteen patients recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the
total number of recoveries to 222.
There will not be a traditional military parade on the Day of Valour and of the Bulgarian Armed Forces, May 6, the head of the national coronavirus task force, General Ventsislav Moutafchiiski told the regular morning briefing on Tuesday. His opinion on the matter is
shared by the Defence Ministry, he underscored. In his words,
the reasons are objective: holding a parade means many people
gathering in one place and military equipment being brought from
various bases in the country. Still, May 6 will be marked at
military schools, he added.
Asked why the entry/exit checkpoints at Sofia's Roma-populated
Fakoulteta and Filipovtsi neighbourhoods have been removed, the
head of Sofia's regional health inspectorate, Dr. Dancho
Penchev, said that the latest data show the COVID-19 infectees
are in hotspots where anti-epidemic measures have already been
taken, and the quarantine has curbed the morbidity rate. There
is a downward trend, he added.
A check in Sofia's South Park on Monday showed that the
organization of visits is very well done, there were no gatherings of
people and if things continue similarly, there is no reason to
close the parks again in the future, it transpired during the
morning briefing. Parks across Bulgaria were opened to visitors
under certain conditions on April 27, after a ban on visits was
