Bulgaria:

- Bulgarian National Radio Day.

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1879: Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) established as Russian Imperial Commissar in Bulgaria, Prince Aleksandr Dondukov-Korsakov, endorses first BNB Articles of Association.

1881: Inauguration of State Printing Office in Sofia.

1935: King Boris III decrees nationalization of radio broadcasting in Bulgaria; Bulgarian National Radio marks its birthday.

1945: National Children's Theatre opens in Sofia (now Nikolai Binev Youth Theatre).

1995: Zhan Videnov forms Cabinet. Remains in power until February 12, 1997.

2008: Military Monuments Act adopted.

2009: Bulgaria's largest wind turbine unveiled near Somovit Village, Pleven Municipality (North Central Bulgaria).

On this day in Bulgarian history:

1908: The crisis at the Sofia University is resolved, when fired academic staff are restored to work. The crisis is set off when a group of students boo Prince Ferdinand at the opening of the National Theatre and are arrested. University professors are fired after siding with them, and the University is closed for six months.

1979: The Council of Ministers decrees the introduction of Daylight Saving Time in the country.

2000: bTV is licensed as a nationwide terrestrial broadcaster.

2012: Parliament ratifies the Persons with Disabilities Convention.
