site.btaOscar-Winning Documentary 20 Days in Mariupol to Be Screened at Sofia Film Fest
The documentary 20 Days in Mariupol, which won this year's Oscar for Best Documentary Feature, will be screened at the French Institute in Sofia on March 26, as part of Sofia International Film Festival (SIFF), Art Fest announced. A discussion with the journalists Ariane Chemin and Boyko Vasilev will take place before the screening.
The Fest's programme includes The Holdovers directed by Alexander Payne and starring Da'Vine Joy Randolph, whose role there won her the Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.
Audiences can also see Four Daughters directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, The Teachers' Lounge directed by Ilker Catak and Perfect Days directed by Wim Wenders.
The Czech Institute in Sofia will screen Big Dreams directed by Dan Panek as part of the SIFF Kids programme.
Eastern Front, a film coproduced by Latvia, Ukraine, Czechia and the USA and directed by Vitaly Mansky and Yevhen Titarenko, will also be screened. Other international productions, part of SIFF's programme, are Agnieszka Holland's Green Border and Olga Chajdas's Imago.
SIFF's guestlist includes Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska, whose film Woman of... will be screened in Lumiere Cinema on March 15 and in Odeon Cinema the following day. Szumowska will teach a masterclass in Odeon Cinema on March 16.
The documentary Danger Zone, a coproduction by Poland and the UK directed by Vita Maria Drygas, will also be screened during the Festival, the Polish Institute in Sofia said.
