The anti-European behaviour of some politicians in North Macedonia and their attitude towards Bulgaria in no way benefits them and distances them from a membership in the European Union (EU), President Rumen Radev told journalists in Letnitsa (Northern Bulgaria) on Sunday regarding a statement made by North Macedonia's President Stevo Pendarovski on the existence of a Macedonian minority in Bulgaria.

On March 7, Pendarovski said that constructiveness is necessary in the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and North Macedonia and in the efforts to resolve their issues and that "the existence of a North Macedonian minority in Bulgaria is a fact, which is confirmed by Strasbourg".
