President Rumen Radev emphasized that Slovenia is an extremely important economic market for Bulgaria for the development of high-tech industries and innovations. On Tuesday, he participated in a Bulgarian-Slovenian business forum organised by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) in partnership with the SPIRIT Slovenia business development agency.
"Slovenia is an extremely important economic market for us not only because we share similar foreign market characteristics, not only because we have a predictable economic environment and growing consumption, but above all because we have a common goal - to develop high-tech industries, to develop innovations, to integrate even more into the single European market and above all our common policy to create such conditions with innovations so that we can keep our young people here in the region," President Radev said.
He pointed out that last year Bulgaria managed to attract EUR 3.5 billion in investments. "We share a common effort to make the Balkan Peninsula a much more attractive place for investments," Radev said, stressing that this means working on connectivity.
President Radev congratulated Slovenia for being the leading country in Eastern Europe in terms of circular economy, green technologies, high value-added production, for developing export-oriented production, for guaranteeing quality and standard to the citizens. This is a path Bulgaria is confidently following, Radev stressed.
On the potential for cooperation and investment in Bulgaria, the head of State gave the example of the automotive sector. "Within just a decade we now have over 350 companies, over 70,000 people employed in this sector, 12% of our GDP and EUR 8 billion in circulation," Radev said.
