The body of a snowboarder reported missing on Monday at 2 p.m. has been found at 7.30 p.m., the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) told BTA. According to initial reports, the man, a Greek national who was a part of a snowboarding group, went missing after an avalanche hit the Markujik 3 ski slope in Borovets, Rila Mountain. The Markujik 3 ski slope had been closed on Monday.

Ten rescuers, four dogs and volunteers took part in the search.

The risk of avalanches has increased in recent days due to strong winds and high temperatures, the MRS said.
