Chaos occurred in 15 hospitals in Romania after the cyberattack on Monday morning, reports Digi24. According to the media outlet, medical services in the affected hospitals could not be registered and emergency rooms were full of patients.
At least three of the hospitals hit are in Bucharest: the Marius Nasta National Institute of Pneumology, the Fundeni Clinical Institute, and the Emergency Hospital Bagdasar-Arseni. The medical services system in these medical institutions is supported by an IT company whose server was attacked on Monday morning.
It is yet to be determined how these services will be reported and covered, because if they cannot be entered into the system, the hospitals will not be able to receive money from the National Health Insurance Fund. There has been no official announcement or reaction from the authorities on this topic. Hospital managers confirmed that the system is not working.
